Concerning the COVID-19 Virus

Dear Grace Bible Church Family, March 13, 2020

In light of the continuing spread of the Covid-19 virus, our church leadership has been involved in discussion about how to best protect the congregation. This is a unique situation that is new to all of us. It is also fluid, changing all the time, and therefore our response needs to also be flexible. We need to be properly informed and ready to respond to the rapidly changing circumstances.

In discussions with the Elder Board we feel it best to base our decisions about the gathering together of our church family on local information from sources like Kitsap Public Health.

As of March 13, Kitsap County is considered "Low Risk – Threshold 1" under this guidance.

Based on this information we have made the following decisions:

Sunday Worship Services

o GBC will have worship service this Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, March 15th.

o Future services will be evaluated on a weekly basis.

o Sermons are available on podcast. Sermons will also be made available on YouTube. Below is a link for the video to live stream the service.

Sunday School / Adult Bible Fellowship

o Our 9:30 a.m. Sunday school and Adult Bible Fellowship are canceled for this Sunday, March 15th.

o Future Sunday school & Adult Bible Fellowships will be evaluated on a weekly basis.

Weekly Ministries & Meeting

o All weekly ministries, including AWANA and Home Fellowships, are canceled for at least the next two weeks.

o The monthly board meeting & vision meetings are still on schedule at this time.

We encourage you to be careful and make decisions about your participation in any public gatherings. There are certain individuals and families that have health concerns that would put them at risk and should therefore avoid social interaction. Therefore, if you are elderly or susceptible to respiratory weaknesses, we advise you to not attend this Sunday’s service.

I recognize that this is a developing situation. We will continue to monitor and assess day by day and will be sure to keep you updated.

One thing we know for sure in this public health concern is that God is not surprised by any of the events we are experiencing. We do all we can to stay safe and healthy, but our hope and joy and ultimate health comes from our great God. May the 121st Psalm be your comfort and joy this week.

—Pastor Ken Farmen and the Elder Board

Psalm 121

1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—

where does my help come from?

2 My help comes from the Lord,

the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip—

he who watches over you will not slumber;

4 indeed, he who watches over Israel

will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord watches over you—

the Lord is your shade at your right hand;

6 the sun will not harm you by day,

nor the moon by night.

7 The Lord will keep you from all harm—

he will watch over your life;

8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going

both now and forevermore.
